The School of Social Sciences and International Studies at Wright State welcomes you to share our passion and dedication to the field of communication. Communication is central to all activities whether it is in political communication, public affairs campaigns, or social media. Our faculty, staff, undergraduate, and graduates students are dedicated to keeping current in their fields of expertise. Study from a social scientific perspective how humans create, transmit, receive, and respond to messages. The communication studies program will help you better understand intrapersonal and interpersonal communication. The mass communication program shapens your skills in mediated processes and effects, social media, digital media, and other multimedia processes. Your intellectual, organizational, and social abilities will increase through our new curriculum. These abilities can be applied to a variety of contexts, including interpersonal, organizational, and mediated settings. Your courses will underscore real-world experiences with theoretical frameworks. Your ability to critically think about the world around you cannot be overemphasized. We strive to help you participate in a democratic society as an informed and civically engaged citizen and demonstrate global and multicultural competence.
What can you do with a degree in media studies?
Past students have interned at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the Dayton Dragons, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Cox Media, Central Intelligence Agency, religious organizations, and hospitals.
