Dr. Bonch Reeves is an Associate Professor of Spanish in the department of Modern Languages at Wright State University. She spoke on how Spain’s caves may be famous for prehistoric paintings but there are a myriad of ways Spaniards make caves an extension of home.

The department of Modern Languages invited all faculty, students and staff to the eight presentation in its lecture series, "Monks, Muslims and Believers: Monasticism and the Early Islamic Movement" on November 5, 2015. Dr. Mabra is an Assistant Professor of Arabic in the department of Modern languages at Wright State University. He explored the religious identity of the first Muslim communities by analyzing their interactions with, and attitudes towards, Christian monks.

She discussed different aspects of French culture that are coveted by people around the world.

The department of Modern Languages invited all faculty, students and staff to the sixth presentation in its lecture series, "(De) Humanizing Narratives of Terrorism in Spanish and Peruvian Films" by Dr. Melissa Doran, on November 12, 2014. Dr. Doran is an Instructor of Spanish in the department of Modern Languages at Wright State. She discussed narratives of humanization and dehumanization as encountered in Helena Taberna’s film Yoyes (2001) and Fabrizio Aguilar’s film Paloma de Papel (2003).

"The Art of Translation"
Dr. David Lee Garrison
The department of Modern Languages invited all faculty, students and staff to the fifth presentation in its lecture series, "The Art of Translation" by Dr. David Lee Garrison, on April 15, 2014. Dr. Garrison has published translations of Spanish poets from the Renaissance to the present days, taught translation, and served as a court interpreter during his career as a Professor and Chair of Modern Languages at Wright State. He read from his work and discussed the process of translation and the many choices a translator must make. Dr. Ksenia Bonch-Reeves, Associate Professor of Spanish, introduced Dr. Garrison. The event was organized by Dr. Anna Casas Aguilar, Assistant Professor of Spanish.
