Why Choose Fundamentals of Crime and Justice Studies?

You will become aware of the key components and players within the US criminal justice system. This certificate will also introduce theories of crime causation and the distribution of crime throughout the US. Students will gain an understanding of the foundations and practices of criminal law. Lastly, students will develop an appreciation for the importance of ethical conduct in the administration of justice.  

Academics and Curriculum

The Fundamentals of Crime and Justice Studies Certificate is designed for students who have an interest in Crime and Justice and/or are considering a career in the criminal justice system or related fields. The curriculum includes a four-course sequence of classes that will provide students with essential knowledge and skills related to the fields of criminology and criminal justice.

Admission

Students must have a declared major, completed ENG 1100, 1130, or 1140 with a grade of C or better, and a minimum of two other courses in the WSU Core while maintaining a GPA of 2.00 or above.
