Employers are increasingly aware of the importance of social diversity and the value of workforce diversification. Earning this certificate will demonstrate your proficiency in this highly-relevant, high-demand area. If you are a qualified secondary instructor, earning this ertificate will allow you to teach credit-bearing introductory sociology courses to college-bound students in Ohio high schools. Ohio mandates a minimum of 18 hours of graduate credit hours within the discipline for completion.

You will gain direct training and experience with introductory sociology courses, and enjoy a focused program of coursework that will give you specialized proficiency in the area of social diversity. Choose from a rich array of qualifying courses including Gender and Sexuality Global Issues, Race and Ethnicity, Urban Sociology, and Health of Vulnerable Populations. You must hold a bachelor’s degree in sociology (or related field/equivalent) and fulfill the admission requirements for the Wright State Graduate School. The Graduate School will review the applications. If the application meets the Graduate School’s minimum requirements, the sociology curriculum committee and/or the department chair will review the applications for approval.
