Dr. Myron Levine, professor of Urban Affairs, attends the National Brownfields Conference in Chicago.
The conference is focused on environmental revitalization and economic redevelopment. This is the 16th national conference and is an important stop for anyone working to create better communities through cleaning up and reusing brownfield properties.
On September 2, Mayor Rahm Emanuel welcomed attendees and talked about making the Chicago River the city’s next great recreational space, open to kayaking. The Mayor also talked about transforming an old brownfield site into 23 acres of parkland in a packed and poor Latino community, Little Village in China.
A delegation from China is also attending this important environmental conference.
