Civil Rights: Martyrs and Heroes
Explore the significance of 1968 from historical and contemporary perspectives. Visit New Market, TN, Nashville, TN, Memphis TN and Little Rock, AR.
The 2018 pilgrimage commemorates the 50-year anniversary of the assassinations of two charismatic American leaders - the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy. It also celebrates renowned figures of the American civil rights movement, including Congressman John Lewis, as well as unsung heroes and "sheroes" such as Katherine Johnson and Sarah Collins Rudolph.
Tracy Snipe, Ph.D., associate professor in the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) at Wright State, teaches the class and leads this year’s commemorative pilgrimage.
