Recognition Year:
2020

Camryn Potter will be graduating from Wright State in Spring 2020 with a major in Spanish and a Multi-Age Teaching Licensure in Spanish. She has studied Spanish for the past 7 years and in her studies she traveled to many Spanish-speaking regions. She has studied abroad three times during her time at Wright State. The first program she went on was a two week ambassador program to Merida, México where she was able to engage in language skills daily as well as visit many sites of the Mayan ruins. Her next program was a four month study abroad to Montevideo, Uruguay where she participated in classes, lived with a host family, and traveled to neighboring countries including Argentina and Chile. Camryn’s most recent trip was with the two week ambassador program to Puerto Rico where she learned the complex history of the region and traveled to exotic sights.

Camryn is currently in her last phase of student teaching and enjoying learning the best practices of foreign language education from her cooperating teachers. Her plans after graduation include becoming an innovative Spanish teacher for a local school district and eventually traveling abroad to continue learning about Hispanic culture. Her hobbies and interests include being a color guard instructor, remaining curious to other cultures, and traveling.

Camryn is incredibly honored and excited to be recognized as an Outstanding Senior by the Modern Languages Faculty. Camryn worked as a Student Assistant in the Modern Languages Department and has enjoyed every second getting to know the professors and other majors and minors. She is also a member of the Spanish National Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi. She is grateful to have such amazing support from her faculty and says she would truly not be where she is today without them. Camryn will not forget the time she has spent at Wright State and is incredibly thankful for her educators.
