Spanish Sigma Delta Pi Ceremony

On Friday, March 11, twelve students were nominated for lifetime membership in the Wright State chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, la Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica. They met the strict scholastic requirements for membership, maintaining a minimum 3.5 GPA in their Spanish courses and a 3.2 overall GPA. The Iota Omega chapter of Sigma Delta Pi upholds the Society’s commitment to recognizing outstanding scholarship in the Spanish language and to promoting continued interest in Hispanic literatures and cultures.

We celebrated their accomplishment with their family and friends. Members of the Spanish faculty hosted a reception following the ceremony, during which each initiate shared a favorite Hispanic object with the group and explained briefly first in Spanish, then in English, what this object meant and symbolized to them. Additionally, initiates and their guests were treated to a selection of Spanish-language songs performed by WSU student Parisa Samavati.

Congratulations to all of them! ¡Felicidades!
