The Applied Behavioral Sciences Master’s Program is proud to recognize Aerial Nies by nominating her to receive CoLA’s 2017-2018 Outstanding Graduate Student Award! Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio Aerial completed her Bachelors in the Crime & Justice Studies Program and returned to excel as a student in the ABS program. Ms. Nies’s ABS graduate cumulating research project is entitled: “Re-entry Programs: Formal and Informal Education and Job Obtainment” and has far-reaching applied implications pertaining to the criminal justice system and ex-offender re-entry policies. This qualitative study utilized interviews to examine how re-entry programs affect ex-offenders beliefs in their ability to obtain and maintain employment. This research project includes participants who have been incarcerated previously and successfully completed the requirements for their re-entry program and graduated from the program. Aerial currently works at Community Correction Center in Lebanon, Ohio as Operational Supervisor a facility with an emphasis on felony-level drug treatment. We are proud to count Aerial amongst the ranks of ABS Alumni!
