Why Choose Performance?

If you are an advanced, non-degree student who wishes to pursue intense and concentrated musical study in instrumental, vocal, or piano performance at the pre-master’s or post-master’s level, consider Wright State's Performance Specialist Certificate.

This one-year course of instruction will allow you to engage in a course of study that includes applied lessons, ensembles, and related courses, and prepare a graded capstone degree recital.

There are three certificates available: instrumental, piano, and vocal.

A music performance professional certificate will allow you to pursue additional career options in music. Among them would be:

  • Performing in a band or orchestra or as a solo performer
  • Teaching in a music studio
  • Teaching at the elementary, high school, or college level
  • Choral conducting
  • Musical therapy
  • Song writing
