William Wittman '77 Master of Music

William Wittman, a member of the first graduating class from Wright State’s Master of Music degree program, has enjoyed two careers — the first teaching music and the second in educational administration.

A graduate assistant in instrumental music while in college, Wittman became Director of Bands at Lancaster High School from 1977-86, then Director of Fine Arts and Communications for Newark City Schools (1986-99). His career in administration began as Superintendent of Hamilton Local Schools in Columbus (1999-2004). He has been Superintendent of Tri-County Career Center in Nelsonville since 2004.

While at Hamilton, Wittman directed the purchase of almost 70 acres of land and construction of a grades 4‑6 intermediate building, followed by four additional buildings on the same site. More than 1,500 full- and part-time students are served by the Tri-County Career Center’s adult division as well as more than 500 junior and senior high school students.
