Visiting Artists

CELIA’s Distinguished Visiting Artist Program is designed to enhance Wright State University’s outstanding programs and public offerings in the fine and performing arts. Each year, CELIA hosts an internationally renowned artist for short-term residences involving performances, exhibitions, master classes, lectures, and other related events involving Wright State's students and faculty, and possibly other regional arts organizations.

Angel Blue

Seraph Brass

John Hogan

John Hogan is the Mary Jo and Ted Shen Installations Director and Archivist for Sol LeWitt Wall Drawings at Yale University Art Gallery. He has an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Sol LeWitt (1928-2007)

Sol LeWitt was born in 1928 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was a leading figure in the Conceptual Art movement from the 1960s until his death in 2007.

Sō Percussion

Dwight Rhoden

Founding Artistic Director/resident choreographer of Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Rhoden has established a remarkably wide- ranging career, earning distinction from The New York Times as “one of the most sought out choreographers of the day.”

Tom Hanks

Academy Award-winning actor, producer, and director Tom Hanks, who starred in blockbuster films such as "Forrest Gump," "Apollo 13" and "Saving Private Ryan," has a long-running love affair with Wright State University.

David McCullough

Recognition Year: 
2016

David McCullough has been acclaimed as a “master of the art of narrative history.” He is the winner of two Pulitzer Prizes, two National Book Awards, and has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award.

Keith Lockhart

Since Keith Lockhart’s appointment as seventh Principal Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra in August of 2010, highlights of his tenure include two critically acclaimed North American tours (2010-2011 and 2012-2013 seasons), conducting annual performances at The Proms, and celebrating the orchestra’s 60th year in 2012.

Stephen Schwartz

Stephen Schwartz first found acclaim following his work as composer for Godspell in 1971. He wrote the music and new lyrics for the show, for which he won several awards, including two Grammys.
