Matt Frost is the head band director and co-music department coordinator at Beavercreek High School in Beavercreek, OH. He has taught band for 24 years in Beavercreek City Schools, and is currently in his 9th year at Beavercreek HS. The band program at Beavercreek includes 300 students who perform in one of 5 concert bands. Beavercreek offers 4 jazz bands, 2 winter color guards, an indoor percussion ensemble, as well as the Beavercreek High School Marching Band and Color Guard.
As a member of the Beavercreek band staff, Mr. Frost has helped to organize the Weekend of Jazz each year since 2001. The festival hosts headline acts such as Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Sherrie Maricle and Diva, Ellis Marsalis, Victor Wooten, and many others. In addition to providing live performances, the Weekend of Jazz features a festival for area middle school, high school, and collegiate jazz bands, where students attend clinics and perform for local professionals who critique their performance.
Mr. Frost has held leadership positions in the Ohio Music Education Association and has hosted and chaired many events. He has served on the music selection committee for OMEA adjudicated events and is currently the president of OMEA District 12. Mr. Frost has guest conducted for honor bands around the state of Ohio.
Prior to his appointment at Beavercreek City Schools, Mr. Frost taught in the Callisburg Independent School District (TX) and Wapakoneta City Schools (OH). He holds a Bachelors of Music in Music Education from Bowling Green State University (92) and a Masters of Music Education from Wright State University (05).
Mr. Frost is a resident of Beavercreek, OH with his wife Tami (also a music teacher). He is an avid runner and has finished multiple half marathons and marathons.
