Department of Art and Art History

Internships

The Department of Art and Art History works with area arts organizations to coordinate internships that will challenge you to apply and refine the skills you've acquired through coursework in real-world situations, expanding your sense of how and where an education in the visual arts can be applied.

A three-credit, semester-long internship requires eight hours of on-site activity per week, a journal of weekly activities, and a concluding two-page narrative account of the experience. Internships can also be modified for one and two credit hours.

Organizations that have partnered with the department in the past include the Dayton Art Institute, The Dayton Visual Arts Center, and the K-12 Gallery, among others.
