The Wright State University School of Fine and Performing Arts will be hosting its third annual Fall Strings Festival for high school students in October 2022. This event will showcase the wealth of young performing talent in the Dayton area.

Students will gather for three days of coachings and rehearsals, and they will perform in an Honor Orchestra alongside Wright State string majors. Wright State String Faculty members will coach students in sectionals and masterclass and our guest conductor will conduct the Chamber Orchestra rehearsals and concert.

2022 Guest Conductor

We are excited to announce the guest conductor for the 2022 Fall Strings Festival will be Ann Smith. The recipient of the 2020 Wright State Alumni of The Year award, Smith teaches orchestra at Plano East Senior High School in Plano, Texas. Smith is also currently serving as the TMEA Orchestra Division Vice-President, a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association, American String Teachers Association, and is currently serving on the TMAA Committee on Standards of Adjudication and Performance Practices.

In addition to conducting the Festival Orchestra, Ann Smith will also be one of the clinicians for the Fall Strings Festival Professional Development Clinic for area string teachers.
