On October 18, 2013, the French Business class students visited Dorothy Lane Market, located in Centerville. They met with Calvin Mayne, VP of Dorothy Lane Market. The visit included a tour of the supermarket, delivered by Calvin Mayne in French. The students enjoyed some delicious French food samples, and went through a French bread making demo while discussing the company’s marketing approach.

Joseph Mason, Ph.D., the historian of the Air Force Test Center, Edwards Air Force Base, received his M.A. in history from Wright State University in 1998, while serving as an aerospace engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He received his Ph.D. in history from Iowa University in 2004. As an Air Force historian, he has worked at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, and later at headquarters, U.S. Central Command. Drew Swanson, an assistant professor of history, is the author of Remaking Wormsloe Plantation: The Environmental History of a Lowcountry Landscape (University of Georgia Press). This book has recently been awarded the Malcolm Bell, Jr., and Muriel Barrow Bell Award by the Georgia Historical Society and has been recognized for "Excellence Using the Holdings of an Archives" by the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Board.

Karen Lahm is using a grant College of Liberal Arts grant to examine inmate-on-inmate assaults and inmate-on-staff assaults at the Ohio Reformatory for Women from 2007-2012. The data comes from official institutional conduct reports as reported by prison staff and officials. There are a little over 500 of these reports to analyze: 300 inmate-on-inmate and a little over 200 inmate-on-staff. These assaults can be physical, sexual, or an issue of harassment.
