On Friday November 15, 2013, Professor Daddah and her French Business class students traveled to Cincinnati to visit SNECMA, a French company, which is both a GE partner and one of its suppliers. Snecma S.A. designs, develops, produces and markets engines for civil and military aircraft in partnership with GE. The company also offers a complete range of engine support services to airlines, armed forces and other operators.

Congratulations to Dr. Anna Casas Aguilar, Assistant Professor of Spanish Literature and Language in the Department of Modern Languages at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, who completed her PhD in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Toronto in 2013. The eleventh annual Wright State French Immersion Day took place again in the Student Union on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. In attendance were 241 upper level high school French students from fourteen area high schools: Oakwood, St. Xavier, Sycamore, Jonathan Alder, Anna, Dublin Scioto, Allen East, Miami East, Chaminade-Julienne, Finneytown, Franklin City, West Liberty-Salem, Arlington, and Kettering-Fairmont.

On October 18, 2013, the French Business class students visited Dorothy Lane Market, located in Centerville. They met with Calvin Mayne, VP of Dorothy Lane Market. The visit included a tour of the supermarket, delivered by Calvin Mayne in French. The students enjoyed some delicious French food samples, and went through a French bread making demo while discussing the company’s marketing approach.

Joseph Mason, Ph.D., the historian of the Air Force Test Center, Edwards Air Force Base, received his M.A. in history from Wright State University in 1998, while serving as an aerospace engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
