The History of Philosophy Quarterly publishes a particular type of journal article. According to its editorial statement, the journal specializes in papers “manifesting a strong interaction between contemporary and historical concerns.” This prestigious peer-reviewed journal also appears to have another specialty—publishing articles written by members of the WSU Department of Philosophy. In a rare accomplishment, papers by two Philosophy faculty appeared in a recent issue of the journal. Dr. Donovan Miyasaki’s article considers “Nietzsche’s Will to Power as a Naturalist Critical Ontology,” and Dr. Erik Bank’s piece is a reconstruction of “William James’s Direct Realism.” Both articles appear in the July 2013 issue of the History of Philosophy Quarterly, volume 30, number 3, pages 251-269, 271-291.
