The department of Modern Languages invited all faculty, students and staff to the sixth presentation in its lecture series, "(De) Humanizing Narratives of Terrorism in Spanish and Peruvian Films" by Dr. Melissa Doran, on November 12,  2014. Dr. Maan Broadstock recently gave a presentation at The STARTALK 2014 Fall Conference at the Hyatt Regency, Indianapolis, Indiana. The twelfth annual Wright State French Immersion Day took place again in the Student Union on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. In attendance were 192 upper level high school French students from eighteen area high schools: Sycamore, Jonathan Alder, Anna, Dublin Scioto, St Peter’s, Allen East, Miami East, Urbana, Van Wert, Colerain, Mt Vernon, Milford, William-Mason, Northwestern, West Liberty-Salem, Arlington, Carroll and Kettering-Fairmont. The Department of Modern Languages participated in the Fall Raiders Open house. This event was well attended and was hosted at the Student Union on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Professors Daddah, Halling, Du, Garrido and Orr were on deck to provide information and talk to new students about the various Modern Languages programs. Students learned about majors and minors, study abroad/ambassadors programs and much more. This event was extremely successful, fun and informative!

On November 7, 2014,  the French Business class students visited Dorothy Lane Market, located in Centerville. They met with Calvin Mayne, VP of Dorothy Lane Market. The visit included a tour of the supermarket, delivered by Fred Pfeiffer, store director. The students enjoyed some delicious French food samples, and went through a French bread making demo while discussing the company’s marketing approach.
