Cynthia Marshall Burns’ service to the university, college and community is extensive and impactful.

Ms. Marshall Burns serves as program coordinator for the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGS) program. One of the few NTE faculty members to coordinate an academic program, she is responsible for administering WGS’s degree, minor and certificate programs, recruiting, advising students, coordinating interdisciplinary course crosslists, and supervising students enrolled in the WGS program’s internship course. Her duties as WGS coordinator also require her to take a proactive approach to recruiting students. Ms. Marshall Burns represents WGS, and often her home department, English, at virtual and in-person Wright from the Start events, COLA Visit Days, and COLA College Kick-Off events. As a senior lecturer in English, she regularly serves on the Writing Programs Committee and served as the faculty advisor for the NEXUS literary arts magazine for two years.
