Religion, Philosophy, and Classics

Rebecca Edwards has given tireless and creative service to Wright State throughout her career here, working collaboratively to extend the reach of classics education in the region.

Dr. Edwards’ efforts to create Latin Day and the annual ancient science fairs have increased the Classics program’s visibility in the region. She was instrumental in developing the Latin licensure program, working closely with the Department of Teacher Education to develop an effective pathway to licensure for program graduates. Dr. Edwards also works closely with area educators to ensure the high quality of College Credit Plus Latin offerings and was instrumental in developing prior learning assessments for Latin. She has been a stalwart on the College of Liberal Arts scholarship committee, chairing it for two years and helping the college aggressively raise student awareness of these scholarships—even while on professional development leave. Dedicated to faculty development, she regularly serves on her department’s professional development committee and on the college’s faculty development committee.
