Patrick Schmalstig has been an excellent student in Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies, completing their degree with a double major in Mass Communications and a 3.0 GPA. Patrick has been very involved in the Wright State radio station, WWSU 106.9. They currently serve as the Chief Engineer for the station. They have hosted several inclusive programs including The Liberation Station for feminist liberation (2016), Spill the T for LGBT/transgender education (2020), and Not Today Satan a Valentine’s Day education program (2022). They have volunteered with the YWCA Dayton and participated in protests and fundraising for Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio. They were a valuable piece of the student advocacy team during the AAUP strike. Patrick is not quite sure what comes next for them but they are looking forward to ample career opportunities as they complete their time with Wright State University. The WGS program congratulates them on this accomplishment and wishes them the best of luck on the next steps of their journey!
