History

Noeleen McIlvenna is highly visible for her service to the campus community.

Dr. McIlvenna has served as director of the interdisciplinary Social Science Education program for seven years, supervising student interns for the program for three of those years and acting as co-principal investigator for a $300,000 grant to train middle school teachers as special needs teachers as well. She has served on various college and university committees, most notably several terms on the University Promotion and Tenure Committee and on the university’s Faculty Senate. She has frequently made herself available to give talks on American history at area high schools and to serve as a judge for academic competitions. She has been an active and visible leader of AAUP-WSU in roles as various as chapter secretary, contract administrator, and president, as well as serving on state and national AAUP boards.
