Study Abroad Scholarship Recipient

Maria Burks is a junior psychology major and a Spanish and public health minor. She will be studying abroad in San Ramón, Costa Rica with the University Studies Abroad Consortium this summer. During her program, she will be studying Spanish composition and Spanish for medical professionals at her host university, The Sede de Occidente. She is excited to experience the Costa Rican culture by living with her host family, exploring the city, and participating in field trips that take her snorkeling, ziplining, and hiking on the native terrain. She hopes to return home with a wider global perspective, new knowledge about subjects she is pursuing, and having learned more about herself.
