College of Liberal Arts

Jennie Buckwalter was largely responsible for the success of the annual ArtsGala, tirelessly working with the host committee, community partners, and the creative arts departments to make this annual showcase and fundraiser a success.

Closely involved in student success activities, Ms. Buckwalter established and grew the College of Liberal Arts peer mentoring program, which pairs students with mentors in the Dayton business community. This program helps students succeed and keeps the college at the center of positive community change. For these and other efforts, she was included in the Dayton Business Journal’s 2015 class of Forty Under 40 influential and effective young professionals. Building communities was also part of her teaching, as she regularly led students in study abroad ambassador courses, helping them develop an understanding of other cultures and themselves as citizens of the world. As assistant dean of the college, she was closely involved in the formation of the Center for Liberal Arts Student Success among other initiatives.
