Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures

As costume shop manager, Carly Kimmins plays a key role in helping students develop independence, professionalism, and confidence.

Ms. Kimmins has helped bring a greater awareness of professional practice in the wardrobe and costume fields through her continued association with touring productions at the Schuster Center and Victoria Theatres. She has helped dozens of students find a professional wardrobe and costuming employment. During the pandemic lockdown of 2020, she collaborated with colleagues at Sinclair Community College and the professional wardrobe union to create PPE for local front-line workers. She also re-imagined the learning experience for students, ensuring they would develop mastery of technical and artistic skills while still maintaining safety and health guidelines. She created satellite costume shops throughout the Creative Arts Center—in dressing rooms, conference rooms, classrooms, and offices—as well as project kits that allowed students to pick up supplies to work independently.
