About

Carlos Costa (2022)

Outstanding Teaching Award
Recognition Year:
2022

Carlos Costa has won over multiple cohorts of graduate students who previously had proclaimed their “math phobia” and was determined to steer clear of quantitative methods.

A respected and effective associate professor of political science, Dr. Costa’s teaching responsibilities support many programs in the college, including International and Comparative Politics, the Master’s of Public Administration, and the Master of Arts in Applied Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Costa is a popular teacher, who found a way to revamp the quantitative methods courses, engage students, make the coursework accessible, and (most importantly) convince students of why quantitative literacy is important. These achievements are a testament to Dr. Costa’s talents and skills as a teacher and mentor to several who have gone on to top Ph.D. programs.
