English Language and Literatures

Ashley Hall has excelled in teaching, scholarship, and service from the beginning of her Wright State career. She has developed popular and innovative experiential courses serving English and communication majors, as well an interdisciplinary certificate program in digital writing and media. These courses frequently have a service orientation: students have created artificial hands for disabled children or worked with the city of Dayton on civic improvement projects. As co-leader of the new Media Incubator, she has helped create a sustainable business model for the center and provide opportunities for student interns. Dr. Hall serves on campus committees addressing technology and writing, as well as within the profession – most recently as a member of the executive committee for the national organization computers in Composition and Communication. Dr. Hall is a highly productive scholar, publishing regularly in major journals in the field, and has already established a track record of successfully writing grants in the areas of the composition of pedagogy and digital communication.
