About

Alexandria Hines

Social Work
Recognition Year:
2020-21

Alexandria Hines started her academic career about six year ago with the intentions of receiving an undergraduate degree in nursing. Before the first semester as a freshman was finished, she was hit with an unfortunate situation that rendered her thinking and understanding of life. When she became well enough to return to college, and with the remarkable help from the staff to transition back into the college life, Alexandria returned to Wright State University. Because of the traumatic event and her willingness and enjoyment to help others, she researched and realized that social work would be a better fit for her. When Ms. Hines transitioned degrees, she excelled tremendously and took pleasure in the classes that she was taking. After completing one of her introduction to social work classes, a professor of those classes asked if she would be their supplemental instructor for the introduction to social work class. From here, she was a supplemental instructor for a few semesters along with tutoring American Sign Language classes and the rest of the social work classes offered. Alexandria has already completed a minor in Deaf Studies and will also be graduating this upcoming May with an undergraduate degree in Social Work from the college that helped her find out who she was as a person, Wright State University.
