The 2017 ABS Orientation for new and incoming students took place on August 25, 2017. Student’s completed an on campus tour, received words of welcome from COLA Dean Linda Caron, and received a Graduate School orientation from the Dean of the Graduate School, Barry Milligan, all as part of their ABS orientation. Students met their new cohort, were introduced to their peer mentor, reviewed program expectations and meet ABS faculty. Great times ahead for the class of 2019!

Dr. Marlese Durr has been appointed to a 2 year term from January 2018 - 2020 to serve on the ASA's Editorial Board of Contemporary Sociology Contemporary Sociology publishes reviews and critical discussions of recent works in sociology and in related disciplines that merit the attention of sociologists.
