Thomas Sobieski is respected and admired by students and colleagues in the School of Music as a superb performer and dedicated teacher of both applied violin and of regular and honors sections of general education and music courses.

Mr. Sobieski also coaches the department’s chamber music ensembles. Passionate about the art of music performance, he challenges and nurtures budding performers in his studio and beyond. Students regularly refer to him as “inspiring,” and his commitment to their education is evident in his students’ ongoing successes. He is also an outstanding violinist, notable for his technical skill, deep musical understanding, and superior musicianship. He has been named Honors Teacher of the Year for his course in non-western music. Mr. Sobieski plays regularly in university faculty ensembles, serving as concertmaster for the University Symphony Orchestra and Opera Orchestra and playing at ArtsGala, donor receptions, and recruitment concerts. Off-campus, he is concertmaster for the Lebanon Symphony Orchestra and Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra and frequently plays with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra.
