Ryan Oates is a third-year honors student at Wright State pursuing a major in English Language Arts with a Spanish minor. He has spent two years as a Resident Assistant in the Community Engagement and Performing Arts Learning Communities. He is the current president of the National Residence Hall Honorary, and he works off campus as a camp counselor for Camp Joy’s Fostering Success program, a weekend residential camp for children and youth in foster care. Raised in the small town of Wilmington, Ohio, Ryan’s field placements at Xenia High School and Bellbrook High School inspired him to continue exposing himself to new perspectives. While studying abroad in Santiago, Chile this summer, he hopes to immerse himself into the local community and to prepare himself to bring international voices into his classroom as a future high school English teacher.
