Leadership Scholarship Recipient

In 2015, Jing Tan attended Wright State as an undergraduate exchange student from China. After experiencing the courses offered in the College of Liberal Arts, she applied to the Master’s in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program without hesitation after graduating from Shaanxi Normal University in China. Jing quickly got involved in the Wright State community. She served as an orientation leader for two years, helping international students get familiar with campus, giving lectures on American culture, and making them feel at home. She currently serves as president of both the Chinese Students and Scholars Association and the TESOL Club. She participated in the Take Flight Leadership Retreat with other student leaders at Wright State, where she learned many valuable and innovative ways to improve her organizations on campus. After Jing completes her TESOL degree, she hopes to earn a Ph.D. and is currently searching for programs to further her education.
