Emily Ka-Lei Au

Macau native Ka-Lei (Emily) Au earned a master’s degree in piano performance. As a graduate assistant she has taught piano lessons and keyboard musicianship for the School of Music, assisted with recording for concerts and recitals, and helped on Audition Days, and organizing the OFMC Junior Festival, OMTA Ribbon Festival, and the International Piano Competition held in 2017. Her teaching and performing experiences sparked an enduring interest in piano pedagogy. Au has been awarded numerous prizes and scholarships in Macau and the United States. She is the winner of the Concerto Aria Night of Wright State University in 2017, performing the fiendishly difficult Prokofiev Third Piano Concerto with the Chamber Orchestra. She was also the first place winner in the piano duo division at the Ohio Music Teacher Association Graves Piano Solo & Ensemble Contest in Columbus, the recipient of the WSU Provost Scholarship, Irene Romanowski Piano Scholarship, Wanda Coalson Piano Scholarship, and a scholarship from the Instituto Cultural de Governo da R.A.E.de Macau—(Macao Cultural and Creative Industries Program Scholarship).
