Department of Sociology and Anthropology

Give to Sociology and Anthropology

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology has two endowed student scholarship funds to which it invites you to contribute. Each year, selected students are given cash awards generated from the interest on the principal in each of these funds.

For sociology students, there is the Ellen Murray Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in memory of Ms. Murray, one of our earliest faculty members and the person who established and oversaw the internship program. The first award from it was made in the spring of 2013.

For anthropology students there is the Gary McDaniel Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mr. McDaniel, a 1982 anthropology graduate of Wright State, was the first employee hired by a start-up cultural resource management firm, the ASC Group of Columbus, OH. Awards from this fund have been assisting some of our top anthropology students over more than a decade.

Contributions to the Sociology and Anthropology Program Fund are used to help meet a variety of needs for which we cannot tap our operational budget. These have included such things as purchasing pieces of equipment, software, or media to assist with faculty and student research and classroom needs, paying small honoraria to speakers who visit the campus to speak in classes, helping students meet unexpected financial needs due to personal catastrophes such as auto accidents, and helping students to present papers or posters at professional meetings by assisting with travel funds.

Please select as many designations as you like from the list and click the Submit button at the bottom of the page to be taken to the Online Giving page to make your donation.
