The Wright State University Art Galleries are pleased to present the paintings of Nancy Morgan-Barnes and Katherine Schneider from February 15 through March 19, 2000. On Sunday, February 13th both artists will present lectures on their work at 2:30 p.m. in room M252 of the Creative Arts Center. The lectures will be followed by a reception in the University Art Galleries from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The exhibition, lectures and reception are free and open to the public.

Nancy Morgan-Barnes, of Bloomington, Indiana, and Katherine Schneider, of Northampton, Massachusetts, illustrate different approaches to the concept of the artist using her life as subject matter in her art. Both painters comment on the complex roles of young and mature woman, wife, mother, and artist.

Morgan-Barnes is a "narrative realist" who combines various sources to create visual stories. She received her education at St Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She has been teaching at Indiana University since 1989.

Schneider is a portraitist of everyday events in her home and work environments. She studied at Yale University, the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine, and Indiana University.
