Sarah McGinley has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to student learning. She has served the Wright State community for 19 years as an English department faculty member.

Ms. McGinley identifies and addresses the needs of under-served students in the classroom and out. She advocated for and created a version of ENG 1100 designed specifically for military and veteran students and a new second-year composition course designed specifically for Health Sciences majors. She created and endowed the English department’s Lucy Johnson Jones scholarship and the Dunbar Library’s Philip George Munro fund supporting the purchase of contemporary British fiction. She is a mainstay of the University Writing Program, particularly in the arena of online writing instruction and as a mentor for new writing faculty and graduate teaching assistants. She is an active and effective participant in shared governance, serving six terms on the Faculty Senate and routinely serving on important university and college committees.
