The department of Modern Languages invited all faculty, students and staff to the ninth presentation in its lecture series, “Caves in Spanish Culture and Everyday Life” on April 1, 2016.  Dr. Bonch Reeves is an Associate Professor of Spanish in the department of Modern Languages at Wright State University.  She spoke on how Spain’s caves may be famous for prehistoric paintings but there are a myriad of ways Spaniards make caves an extension of home.

On Friday, April 1, 2016, the Department of Modern Languages held the Spring workshop for prospective and current majors and minors. The students learned about International rules of etiquette. On Wednesday, March 30th various members of the Spanish Club got together to play cards.  Francisco Marqués Vuelta, president of the club and native of Spain, taught the group to play Escoba (or other card games).  It is typical to see Spaniards playing Escoba in the afternoon, after the main meal, in a café, while having something to drink.  During the game everyone chatted in Spanish, ate Chupa Chups lollipops, and at the end each participant got to take an authentic deck of Spanish cards.
