F2 Student Visa Enrollment Policy
The LEAP Intensive English Program at Wright State is committed to providing academic English instruction to a wide range of learners. Individuals holding an F-2 visa are welcome to study in LEAP.

Requisite Courses
There are four requisite courses offered by LEAP that carry either a single or double course weight:
Single Courses
- Grammar (GR)
- Listening & Speaking (L/S)
Double Courses
- Writing and Writing Workshop (W/W)
- Integrated Skills (IS)
Course Selection Options
F-2 Students have four options for course selection in any given semester:
- Option #1: GR + W/W
- Option #2: L/S + IS
- Option #3: GR + IS
- Option #4: L/S + W/W
Part-time Study Policies and Procedures
F-2 students enrolled in part-time study in the LEAP program are subject to the following policies and procedures:
- F-2 students must pass all courses at a level to be eligible for promotion to the next level.
- F-2 students are not eligible for the Level 4 TOEFL waiver.
- F-2 students who place into level 4 may take one level 4 class (Advanced Academic Success, Advanced Reading and Writing, or Test Preparation) per semester.
- F-2 students intending to change to a full-time course load will be re-tested for level placement and must apply for a change of status to F1 visa.
Resources, Services, and Policies
F-2 students enrolled in the LEAP program are entitled to all of the resources and services available to LEAP students provided by Wright State.
F-2 students enrolled in the LEAP program are subject to the same policies as full-time LEAP students. Excessive absences or poor classroom performance may result in dismissal from the program.
SEVIS Parameters
SEVIS parameters of allowable F-2 study in LEAP:
- F-2 spouses may not engage in a full course of study.
- F-2 spouses and children are permitted to enroll in "less than a full course of study," even if the course of study done part-time leads to or counts towards a degree. NOTE: All international applicants to LEAP must be 18 years old.
- Sets forth the requirement that to pursue full-time study other than that permitted by this section, the F-2 must apply for and obtain a change of status to F-1, J-1, or M-1.
