Real-World Experience

Students in the TESOL concentration, TESOL certificate programs, TEFL certificate, and Master of Arts program in TESOL must complete a semester-long internship before graduating. Most students are placed with a professor in Wright State’s intensive English program LEAP. Some students work with professors elsewhere. Internship supervisors must have a Master of Arts degree in TESOL

Prior to starting, review the program of study with a TEFL advisor. Some of the courses successfully completed in the TEFL Program may substitute for courses in other TESOL programs such as the TESOL certificate, endorsement, or M.A. TESOL program. See your advisor for details.

Admission

The TEFL certificate is open to any major or nondegree student who has completed ENG 2100. To receive the certificate, a student must earn a 3.0 average for the courses in the program. If interested, contact your department advisor or the director of TESOL programs for further information.
