The Department of Modern Languages participated in the Spring Raiders Open house. This event was well attended and was hosted at the Student Union on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Professors Daddah, Abadie, Du, Alvarez, Orr and Garrido were on deck to provide information and talk to new students about the various Modern Languages programs. Students learned about majors and minors, study abroad/ambassadors programs and much more. This event was extremely successful, fun and informative!

French professors Abadie, Halling, Daddah and Chinese professors Broadstock & Du attended the 2016 OFLA (Ohio Foreign Language Association) & CSTCFL annual conference in Columbus, Ohio on March 10th and 11th.   Professors Abadie and Halling conducted the “Prose Combat: Contemporary French Songs as Authentic Texts” workshop. On March 12, 2016 Profesoras María Astudillo and Michelle Cipriano along with Franciso Marqués, Spanish Club President, attended el Día de Inmersión en Español held at Fairmont High School in Kettering. The College of Liberal Arts has selected Mr. Joseph Panfile to represent the college at the 2016 WSU Research Celebration to be held on April 15.  Panfile is one of just seven students, one from each college, who will present their work at the first plenary session beginning at 8:50 in the Apollo Room. He will speak on “Legalism and Communal Obligations in the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381,” a study he developed under the direction of Dr. Christopher Beck.
