Congratulations Elizabeth Kimmel! Elizabeth was selected for the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance’s Next Generation Nonprofit Leaders Program (NextGen).

The program provides internship stipends to students seeking the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential. Supporting the completion of the CNP by eliminating the barrier of an unpaid internship, the program produces high quality internship experiences.

The selection is a nationally-recognized honor and an important milestone in receiving CNP credential. The CNP designation is the only national nonprofit management and leadership credential developed with and recognized by the nonprofit sector. Students are able to use the CNP in order to receive priority access to nonprofit job opportunities with competitive salaries.

In addition to working towards the CNP credential, Elizabeth is a senior who will graduate with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, along minors in Public Health and Environmental Health Sciences. She is the current treasurer of the Wright State University Chapter of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.

Last fall, Elizabeth wandered into the NorthGate and became enamored with their Dayton Circles program. This organization seeks to end poverty of all sorts (physical, spiritual, intellectual, and relational in addition to financial) by equipping and empowering individuals with the necessary skills for personal transformation and leadership. Biweekly “Outcome Groups” meetings provide a framework for people to build intentional and diverse relationships across class, race, and cultural lines. These relationships develop into a strong support system for people as they assess their areas of impoverishment and set goals to improve their overall quality of life. To support this cause, Elizabeth has been developing marketing materials and writing grants. She thoroughly enjoys working with such passionate people and has personally seen transformation in individuals’ lives. She is very grateful for the NextGen award and the opportunity it has given her for professional- and self-growth through working for, and participating in, Dayton Circles.

  • An acceleration of your learning curve time, once employed, within the nonprofit organization
  • A strengthening and enhancing of your leadership and management abilities for your professional career
  • These are just a few of the benefits for students in the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Program.
