Race, Class, Gender, Sexuality Symposium--"De/Constructing Social Justice: Past, Present and Futures"

The Civil Rights Act with its Title VII that prohibited employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, and sex marks its 50th anniversary in 2014. Celebrations will laud this a great accomplishment and step forward in social justice and yet many argue that it favored white women. Domestic and agricultural workers, that is working people of color, have often been excluded from antidiscriminatory measures. Race, class, and gender intersected poorly then and still today.
