Women’s Studies, an interdisciplinary program, uses several textbooks and books in their courses which feature quilt designs as their covers. Quilts are fabric conversations about individuals, families, communities, or nations. Quilts, through their fabrics, patterns, colors, purpose, themes, and textures are the voice of history or current events and issues. The Quilt Show will be held in the Women’s Center, 148 Millett Hall, to celebrate the history of women in the creative arts and to listen with your eyes as these patchwork forms of art speak.
The speaker, Angela Reichelderfer is a professional historical dressmaker, specializing in Regency and Progressive Era costumes. We invite you to come to her presentation on "The Gendered Nature of the Dressmaking Profession," which will be held from 12-1 pm in 168 Millett Hall.
If you are interested in submitting a quilt for display please contact Linda Morgan atlinda.morgan@wright.edu for a Quilt Display Application. The deadline for quilt submissions is January 24, 2014. You are encouraged to submit the “story” of your quilt to be displayed with your quilt.
