Master’s Thesis: Nonverbal Communication in Early Adulthood

Avery Moeller, B.A., M.A works as a Research Assistant at Wright State University, in the Center for Intervention, Treatment, and Addictions Research (CITAR). His work at CITAR is centered on a research grant designed to find out more information about individuals who use illicit opiates, in the Dayton Metropolitan area. Avery’s Applied Behavioral Sciences Master’s project was to test whether more than half of all young adults, primarily college students, aged 18 – 24 years, were able to 1.) Correctly recognize the six universal facial expressions, 2.) How often participants noticed other individuals using nonverbal communication, 3.) How often participants noticed themselves using nonverbal communication, and 4.) If they believed nonverbal communication was important. We congratulate and celebrate Avery’s accomplishments.
