FR 4940: Film and Cuisine

French Instructor, Karine Daddah taught the first section of her FR 4940 “La cuisine dans le cinéma français” class last week. This course entails the analysis of four French movies, each highlighting the cultural, social, and historical importance of food in every facet of French life. Under her guidance, the students recreate recipes introduced in the films in a hands-on workshop that culminates in authentic French meals and French “convivialité.” The cooking workshop takes place at the Rockafield Alumni House at WSU, and lecture classes are held on campus.

Other highlights of the course includes meeting French chef, Dominique Fortin owner of ”Dominique’s Bistro” in Oakwood for a French lunch on the “terrasse”, and a guided tour in French of the Dorothy Lane Market gourmet store.

Karine Daddah will be teaching another section of this class in June.
