Annual National Chinese Language Conference

Dr. Maan Broadstock attended the tenth annual National Chinese Language Conference organized by Asia Society and the College Board in Houston, TX, April 6-8, 2017.  NCLC is the largest Chinese language conference in the United States, and the proposal selection process is highly competitive, with only a 49% acceptance rate.  Attendance at the event has grown over the years and more than 1,300 educators attended in 2016.  Dr. Broadstock was honored to present with two other Chinese professors, Jing Zhang and Zongxiang Mei, from the University of Houston and Central Connecticut State University.  Dr. Broadstock shared the unique service learning component of WSU's Chinese Ambassador Program, showing how to plan, design, and implement a service learning program overseas.  The title of the talk was "Creating an Affordable, Immersive, and Culturally Enriching Study Abroad Program".
