
Marla Butke is one of the country’s most recognizable authorities on Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a unique approach to music learning developed by Swiss composer and educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze.
Butke is author of a book, co-authored by Dr. David Frego, entitled Meaningful Movement: A Music Teacher's Guide to Dalcroze Eurhythmics. She is a frequent clinician throughout the United States with research interests focusing on reflective practice and Dalcroze Eurhythmics and has served as the head of research for the Dalcroze Society of America.
Butke earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Miami University, a master’s degree in music education from Wright State and a doctorate in music education from Ohio State. She directs the Women's Chorale at Otterbein University and teaches choral methods at Capital University. Butke has also taught at Ashland University, Xavier University, Ohio State, and Ohio Wesleyan.
