For students placing into ENG 1100, 1120 or 1140: Give yourself a head start in your writing courses and Wright State career with Introduction to College Writing Workshop.

August 19—August 22, 2014
8:30-11:30 a.m.

Introduction to College Writing introduces you to the activities and expectations of ENG 1100, the first required Wright State Core writing course.

This workshop will help you get ready for your other classes, too: research shows that students who attend the workshop not only earn better grades in ENG 1100 than students who don’t; they get better OVERALL grades.  Students have praised previous workshops: “We got individual attention and I really learned something.” “I really think this will help as I start school Monday.”  “I would recommend this to any freshman taking ENG 1100.”

Workshop classes will be held in computer classrooms in Millett Hall. You will use the same software used in ENG 1100, which meets in the same computer classrooms.

The workshop fee includes a textbook that you’ll probably use in ENG 1100 and 2100 and will be useful in your Intensive Writing courses, too. If you attend all four workshop sessions and do the work, you’ll receive a “Commencement” reward: a Wright State T-shirt.

Your university account will be charged $40 by the Bursar’s Office following the workshop. (For an additional charge, you may move into campus housing early to attend. For questions concerning early move-in, please contact the Residence Services Office at (937) 775-4172. For questions concerning the workshop, please contact Sandy Trimboli in the English Department at (937) 775-2279.

To enroll in the workshop, please fill out the Application Form (PDF) and mail it to Intro Workshop, Wright State University, Department of English, 470 Millett Hall, Dayton OH 45435; or fax it to Sandy Trimboli at (937) 775-2707. We will email you confirming your enrollment at the address you give on the form. The deadline to apply for this workshop is August 4.

If you enroll but then decide NOT to attend, you need to notify Sandy Trimboli in the Department of English at (937) 775-2279 no later than August 4; otherwise you are responsible for paying the $40.00 fee.
