WHIO Reporter Credits WSU For Preparing Him For Success

By: Jesse Schrote schrote.2@wright.edu

Andy Sedlak is a reporter for WHIO and a 2010 graduate of the Department of Communication at Wright State University, who credits the hands-on experience he gained at WSU for preparing him for his career.

Sedlak developed a love for writing in high school and once he arrived at Wright State he began working as a deejay at WWSU 106.9 FM, he worked at the radio station and for the Guardian

“I began working at WWSU and I was hooked,” Sedlak said. “There was no going back.”

He encourages students to get as much experience as they can.

“The more diverse the better,” said Sedlak. “Hands-on experience is what counts, get it!”

One of his most memorable moments at WSU is when he had the opportunity to interview two members of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street band, one of them being Clarence Clemons.

“Those are memories I’ll take wherever I go.”

“Ironically I had the least amount of experience in TV and that’s where I currently work,” said Sedlak.

He credits many professors for their contributions to his education.

“I had a lot of good professors,” Sedlak said.

“I had a great time at Wright State, I wouldn’t take back a single second.”
